Attachment-Informed EMDR Companion

Prepare for clinician-led EMDR by strengthening relational safety, developing a flexible Calm Place and recording Resource Development and Installation (RDI) supports for agreed use between sessions.

Section 1 of 4

Build relational safety

Name the conditions that help connection, choice and repair feel possible.

01
Attachment-informed starting point

The relationship is the first resource.

Preparation begins with enough relational safety: being met with attunement, choice, predictability and the possibility of repair. A technique should not outrun the connection supporting it.

01Co-regulation

Notice what helps your nervous system feel accompanied rather than managed alone.

02Choice

You can slow down, say no, change direction or ask what will happen next.

03Repair

A rupture or misattunement can be named, understood and responded to together.

What helps connection feel safe enough?

Select the conditions you want to build or protect with your clinician.

How ready do you feel to discuss these resources? This is not a clinical readiness assessment. Your answer can guide a conversation about pacing.
